The conference will be held at the Graduate Minneapolis. The ABS has negotiated a special conference rate if you book your room by
July 3, 2018.

Registration Fees
Single registration:
             $500 for members; $450 if by May 15, 2018
          
Residents, students, fellows; $400 at all times
             $550 for non-members; $500 if by May 15, 2018
Registration Deadline: June 25, 2018.

Cancellation Policy
Registrants wishing to cancel their registrations must do so in writing by the cancellation deadline of May 30, 2018. For cancellations received by the cancellation date, $100 of the registration fee will be withheld for administrative costs, and the refund will occur after the conference has been held. For cancellations received after the cancellation date, no refunds will be available.

Plenary Speakers

John FreyJohn Frey, MD, on “Professional Loneliness and Balint Groups"

Past President of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, former editor of Family Medicine, astute critical thinker and caring family physician, Dr. Frey is writing a book on the social history of doctors and communities in the last half of the 20th Century. 


Dr. von UnwurthMatthew von Unwerth, PhD, on "Learning The Patient's Idiom"

Dr. von Unwerth is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist, Narrative Medicine instructor and author with a strong background in issues of diversity. He will speak to us regarding the critical role of learning to speak in the patient’s own idiom in creating a healing relationship.


Conference will begin midday Thursday, July 26th and conclude around midday on Saturday, July 28th. Complete schedule will be posted soon!

Call for Abstracts
Interested in presenting on the conference topic? Bring us up to date on your research and scholarly insights with a 20-minute presentation. Abstracts must be submitted by March 15th to be considered.

The American Balint Society is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The American Balint Society maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

Application for CME credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians. Determination of credit is pending.
