The intended audience for this conference includes physicians, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers and mental health professionals involved in medical education. It is also appropriate for residents, fellows, and community clinicians. Conference content will include original research and scholarship and ongoing small group experience. Each registrant is asked to choose a format for their small group participation. These varied formats offer practical, experiential learning opportunities for those who want to participate in or lead Balint groups. Small group sessions are led by faculty members who are credentialed Balint leaders:  each session includes one or two Balint groups; those described as using the "intensive format" will be followed by debriefing of group process and leader interventions. While Balint and Intensive formats do not require previous experience and are appropriate for any clinically active professional, the Credentialed Leaders format is meant for those who have had formal training and are currently leading groups. Since the success of a small group process depends on consistency, we ask that registrants plan to attend all their Balint group meetings throughout the conference.
